Q1. What do you consider your biggest challenges while living in Korea?
I think a lot of students have already answered this - language. I honestly thought it would be just a walk in the park to learn Korean considering how many K-dramas I have watched already. I was wrong. Learning Korean was a humbling experience for me. But now that I have been learning the language for 2 years, I would say I have improved a lot. There is a long way to go but I am definitely proud of the improvements I have made.
Q2. Could you tell us what kind of place or meaning KNU holds in your life?
Kangwon National University opened a lot of doors for me. I have met a lot of good people and had some of my best experiences here. For me, KNU has witnessed all my answered prayers unfold. And I truly believe that my stay in KNU will have a long-lasting effect in my life.
Q3. What is your goal, or what would you like to achieve this year, hopefully?
I am currently focusing on writing my thesis. After this semester, I only have two semesters left and I really want to be able to publish a paper before I graduate. So, hopefully by the end of the year, I can finalize my thesis topic and proceed with writing.
Q4. What advice would you give to students who are interested in studying in Korea?
Do it! There’s so many ways to study in Korea. If you are really interested, I suggest that you do a lot of research about everything that you think will be essential if you do study here.
Q5. What new habits and/or hobbies have you developed while staying in Korea?
When I was in my exchange program, I did not go out as much as I wanted to. I kind of regretted that so I promised myself, when I go back to Korea, I would do things differently. Right now, I have enjoyed visiting different cafes, whether it be for studying, chilling with friends, or spending some time alone. It has become my favorite hobby.
